Paris, France, June 18, 2023
“Dialogue & Alliance” held its monthly interconvictional meeting on the theme: “Vulnerable, but strong?”.
There were around 20 face-to-face participants in Paris, and Zoom connections from the following 14 countries: Belgium, Benin, Bulgaria, Chad, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, France, Mauritius, Mali, Sao Tome and Principe, Spain, Switzerland, United States, etc. The moderator was Ms. Claire AUNE, a member of the French board of the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFFP).
The first reading was a look at Judaism. It was Genesis 24.11-21, read by Mr. Modeste AMOUSSOU, then commented on by Ms. Tirzi MARTIN, a graduate of Barrytown Theological Seminary (USA).
The second reading brought a Muslim perspective. The Koran XLVI.35 was read and commented on by Mr. Naseer Ahmed SHAHID, Chief Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community France.
We had a short cultural break with the song “Fragile,” performed by the famous rapper, singer, and composer SOPRANO. The choice of this song made all the more sense as June 18 was Father’s Day and also “International Day Against Hate Speech.”
The final reading brought a Unificationist perspective. It was Genesis 32.7-13 (the meeting of Jacob and Esau), read and commented on by Mr. Laurent LADOUCE, a researcher with the Peace Federation.
The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session moderated by Mr. Yves MASSEY, President of the partner association APROPAIX.
